Centennial

We tried a new recipe called Chocolate Mug Cake this week. You mix ingredients in a mug and cook 3 minutes in microwave. Here it is cooking. It's suppose to go above the mug.

Here it is when put out on the plate. I measured the cocoa wrong, so it wasn't quite right, but okay.

Last week the local library had an American Girl afternoon. It was an "early release" day from school. Girls around the community brought their dolls and listened to a story about one particular doll. Then they broke into groups and did crafts from different eras of the dolls. Then they all watched The Molly Movie.

Today was the Centennial. So glad it is over. All went well. The kids put on a skit called the Hallelujah March, which highlighted the first gathering when the Nazarenes became an official church. Here they are practicing...

The worship team sang "I'm Feelin' Mighty Fine" and "Goodbye World, Goodbye".
John and I made two banners/timelines. The first one celebrated our denomination's history.

We designed a fan that highlighted the three buildings that had housed our congregation since 1938, and I put together this green booklet about our local church history. It was told in story form. Some pastors had written in and told some memories that were added to the story. Believe it or not, our first pastor is still alive. He is 94 years old and was pastor for one year--1936. There were 4 pages of pictures in the back of the booklet.

You may recognize the clothes on the left. That was the dress that JM bought me and I wore on the way to our honeymoon. It's a size 4 and only this gal could fit into it.

I was thinking about you Sunday morning as I was preparing to interview my dad (been in the Naz for 76 of the 100 years). Yes I procrastinated. It was 8:30 and I almost texted you to say "wish you well!" but I was afraid you'd already be at church and it would buzz until you picked it up or something...which would have caused you more stress. So I said a quick pray instead. Looks like it turned out great. Ours was neat, too, but not quite as involved. sandi

Well, that would have been 7:30 our time and I was ironing Autumn's apron! I want to hear what you guys did too. See you at the Reunion.
