More snow, stupid Republicans, mattresses

We got over 7 inches of snow Tuesday night. The kids didn't have school the next day. They've attached 12 minutes on to the school day to make up for the ice storm days. This also gives them another day or two for the rest of the school year. Sam has to get to his bus stop now at 6:55. Autumn's 12 minutes have been broken up to 5 extra minutes in the morning and 7 min in the afternoon.

Several times this week, we've not been able to find Swirly Swirl. Each time she's been under blankets. Must be cold in our house.

Right now she (cat) is bored and keeps bringing her toys to me and dropping them at my feet and saying "Meow?" She's such a smart cat.

We were going to spend Saturday morning at the Kansas Rep. Caucus. We'd planned on taking the kids and giving them a little education on the process. However, once Romney dropped out, there was no reason to go. Huck overtook McCain by a landslide here in KS, which was interesting.

The good news of the week...we are getting a new Sealy Posturpedic mattress on Monday! Also getting a new bedroom suite along with the mattress. We're very excited. We told Autumn she can sleep with us one night after we get it. She's always wanting to spend the night with us and we never let her unless it's the middle of the night with a bad dream. Anyway, now we have room for another person, so come on in! We are SO excited about this.

This is how the bed looks in the furniture store

We didn't get the little seat because I was afraid we'd just pile things on it. Plus our bedroom is not very big and we tend to overdo it with furniture.

This is the bureau and mirror. You can't see the mirror well in the picture, so I'll post it again when we get the actual set in our bedroom.

Now we are searching for comforters and curtains. We also need to paint in the bedroom, but that will all come. We are searching for bedside tables that have to be only about 19" across because of lack of space. I have a few leads on this, but want to wait til we get the bed in to make sure of our space. For now, a new bed is enough to make me have sweet dreams. We were going to have the furniture people haul away our old mattress. However, JM has some new students with the wife 7 mos pregnant sleeping on an air mattress. They want our old one, even though I think it's horrible. I'm sure they'll like it better than an air mattress, so they're getting it.

Thursday morning I fell on the ice steps on front porch. I have a big purple and black bruise on me, but what's worse is the day after it's happened I am VERY sore from my neck down to my rear-end. Hopefully, this will get better as the next few days progress.

I took Autumn to our little ice rink here in town. She hasn't been ice skating since she was 4. I've put it off for 6 years, because I hate putting the skates on the kids. They have terrible skates for rent there, and I hate being miserable there. Anyway, I finally gave in and took her. Unbelievably, she skated like a pro. One mother ask me if she was a natural athelite. Hahaha. This is pretty funny because she hates sports.

Autumn and her friend Meagan

Speaking of sports, we went to a superbowl party Sunday night. They gave us the option at church to going to a Prayer Meeting time at church or going to this party that some other members were having. Since I lead this ladies prayer time at church every other week, I figured we could skip it and hit the SuperBowl party. I enjoyed the socializing more than anything.

Sam made blueberry muffins on his own tonight. I just got out all the ingredients and he followed the directions to make them. They tasted great!

I know how you feel about the election because we feel the same way. What size of bed did you get? King? Queen? Is it pillow top? You will sleep in it and never want to get out. That's how we feel about ours. Gary said that he can't wait to go and lay down in it every night. That's how good it is! ha

We have not had one school delay or snow day at all this year. Emily is still wishing that it will happen but I don't think it will unless it floods here bad. That's really great that same can make food!

Thanks, Sister. And it's a pillowtop. Trying it out for the first time tonight! I hope I haven't psyched myself up too much for this.
