Skating, bookshelves,Go Fish

I don't think I could begin to update the last several weeks very well. But here are a few highlights..

The closest roller skating rink to our house is actually on Post, so we have to drive 20 minutes or so, and go thru security to get there (show vehicle registration, insurance, driver's license, and a pass for the vehicle). Autumn's friend, Kennady, invited her to go, so they had a great time. This was her first time. My camera batteries ran out, so the pictures won't be posted here.

Two weeks later, we all went and had a great time, even though it was quite crowded that Sunday. It was Sam's first time.

Kennady is also now going to church with Autumn. Her dad is in Iraq right now and they are moving in June, but it has been fun getting to know the family.

We had the interior decorators arrange our bookshelves for us. They asked us to get out every knick-knack, china piece, crystal, whatever we had and put it in the middle of the floor. So I looked up about 30 different items we had in boxes or laying around. Then they picked several nice books to use and completely did the bookshelves in a few hours using almost all of those things. When we came back, we couldn't believe the transformation.

A few close-ups. These were taken at night and I think the lighting is bad, but you can get the idea of the arranging. I like how she put the dishes up. I asked her to please include the cookbooks (much to John's chagrin) and I thought they blended in well with how she arranged it.

This next one is to the right of the door going into the dinette

The top shelf that's cut off also has cookbooks, but at an angle.
The pictures are not yet up on the wall, but we had them mark where they thought they should be. The one that we have over the fireplace is not there permenantly, but it's all we have for now

That's one of the new lamps.

And for a trip down memory lane...here's what we've had to live with the last few years.{Decade!}

Green walls, ugly carpet, junk

Priming begins

Ugly carpet,old couch, beautiful cat

Work begins last summer

JM's office is slowly coming along. We got the gas fireplace installed last week.

We LOVE our new bed. It's pulled out in the middle of the room for now because it's so hard to paint or re-do walls, which we want to eventually do, with the bed against the wall. It weighs a ton. Anyway, here it is the day we got it. Of course the cat, as usual jumped in front of the camera in all the shots.
THIS IS THE DAY WE GOT IT

NEW DRESSER

I have followed my mother's tradition of thanking God form my new bed every night!:-)

Church...our pastor had colon surgery a few weeks ago and has had a long recovery. We have been doing a dvd series called GO FISH by Andy Stanley. We did two on Sunday morning and now since the pastor's back we do them on Sunday evening. They are so good! Many people keep wanting to borrow the dvd to take home. We've actually ordered it to have our own copy. It's a series of 6 sermons.

Oh, one more thing...Autumn received her first BLUE level gold medal in quizzing last Saturday at the Quiz. This will allow her to go to the district quiz on March 8. We had quite an adventure on the way home from quizzing involving a sick kid. I emailed the details to some of you, and if you want the details I'll forward it on to you by email. Otherwise, I'll spare most of you!!!

Your house looks marvelous! Love the look of that bed, too. Can't see the wallpaper too well in your bedroom, but looks like it's ready to be painted, too. How does it feel to have a whole new house? Lucky thing! Can you come work on my bathroom? -Sandi

Nice Lorie! I would never of thought to put dishes on the shelves but it really showcases them. I know how you feel about your bed and I'm praising God with you! ha ha

Sandi, Unfortunately, it's not a whole new house, it's just the living room! The wallpaper and brown walls are old and we are looking for either a green or blue color scheme in there. Right now we are priming and painting the trim. After that we have to work on OUR bathroom, but that will be a few months because of getting the office done.

I didn't know you had windows behind your bed. Loved the lamps. Where did you put the rest of your books! Jen

Most of the other books are in 2 large bookcases we had built downstairs. You remember the one we had downstairs growing up? I think Dad had it built when we moved to Auld Rd? It's like two of those. All the kids books are in another bookcase.
