On Friday night we had the banjo playing professor over again, as well as his wife and child. We also invited a friend who plays guitar at church. The guys played and played for several hours. They sound terrific. Here's a video clip of one of their slower songs:
We talked the banjo player into helping w/ our nursing home ministry! We think we can get all 3 guys together for the next "nursing home gig"!!!
John Mark went to the dentist today to get his teeth cleaned. Found out the source of the pain that he's been having for about a month now...needs a root canal! Fun Fun. Also, a few other dental problems that he's not looking forward to.
Sam spent MLK Day hunting pheasants and quail. He spent Sunday night at some friends house and got up bright and early to drive 2 hours south of here to hunt. He's not taken a hunters safety coarse, so didn't get to shoot the gun, but went along for the fun. Jiaying, a 9 year old friend from church, went along as well, along with our pastor, two other men from the church, and a 16 year old. They walked about 5 miles that day. He was able to see several deer along the way.
Last night we canceled Bible study to watch Kansas State take on the University of Kansas Jayhawks. We went over to Linda (children's pastor) house. The terrible thing is that they are Jayhawks. HUGE Jayhawk fans. So much so that their daughter is involved with an online Jayhawk trivia game of 30,000 people and she's ranked #2. Very competative family. We kind of invited ourselves. They tried hard not to scream, but several screams did escape them. John Mark did get up and do a dance once, but only once. Anyway, the unbelievable thing is WE BEAT THEM! First time in 25 years we be them here in Manhattan! I think we won by like 10 points. Afterwards the crowd of 13,000 rushed to the court (a sea of purple). We have an awesome player Michael Beasely who's a little cocky, but when they're cocky on yourside , you don't care as much :-)
Some pics are repeats, but they're difficult to delete.
The court, after the game...
Michael Beasley quote: "We're gonna beat KU at home, we're gonna beat 'em at their house, we're gonna beat 'em in Africa," Beasley said. "Wherever we play, we're gonna beat 'em."
Aren't these players the most beautiful things you've ever seen?
Quote from KU Jayhawks coach, "This stinks more than most things stink."

Lorie, the group sounds great playing! Those old people will love that!
We heard about the game and was thinking of you all! That is something about them winning like that! I bet your excited.
Yes, we are!
And the women's basketball beat Nebraska last night 77-75. The final shot was with 7 seconds left.
I was going to ask about John's mouth. Glad you found out the problem. Sorry for John. Jen
