TRUMPETS ETC...

We are renting a trumpet for Autumn this year to play in band. We brought it home on Saturday and today (Tues) she can already play several songs..."Over Hill,Over Dale" "Bind us together"(by ear), "God is So Good""Mary Had a Little Lamb" etc... She hasn't even started band yet.

While there I did something I've been talking about for ages. I rented a clarinet for 3 mos. I didn't think I would be able to blow through it, but did just fine when I got it home. I am having so much fun with it. I am convinced that the all wood clarinet that I had growing up was much more difficult to blow through. I remember other clarinet players trying to blow through it and they could not do it. Now I have the typical plastic clarinet that most people have and it is SO EASY! I still have to build up some of my breathing, but I think I'll get it easily. Of course, the wood one had a better sound, it was just more work.

Sam is really enjoying his baking class at school. He came home last Friday excited to make "Cowboy Coffee Cake". So here he is mixing up two pans of it.

I forgot to get a picture of the finished product

This summer I was pinching off some leaves of my coleus out front. I threw them over the side and look what happened.!

Those to the left of the urns were not planted. Also some on the other side have started from the throw-away leaves.

Last weekend Autumn reported that there were frogs in the window well again. But these she said were a different kind of BLACK FROGS. They were, in fact

crickets!
Also, this little guy was down there.--probably eating the crickets---

The funny thing is when these creatures get stuck down there they hop up and look at us in the window while we're watching tv.

I have been working on our local church 72nd anniversary in conjunction with the denomination's 100 anniversary. It's on Oct 5 and I will be so glad when it's over. I am spending my days scanning in things, writing letters to former pastors, getting fans and banners made etc...John is going to help me with the banners being made up, thank goodness. I really don't enjoy these types of things and no one else seems too interested in helping. I just want to get it over!

Boy Lorie, you sure looked like Jenny playing that horn. There was a strong resemblance that I've never seen before!

That varmit is Sam. I figured you knew that, but with that long hair it's hard to tell.

Btw, i like seeing a smile on Sam's face -anytime you can catch that on camera is a good thing.

Lorie, your yard is beautiful-are there pictures of it somewhere that i could see? Like an old website or e-mail-that kind of thing.

I'll say it again-those kids are beautiful.

I do have an old URL address, but it's before flowers were planted. My goal next week is to take pictures of our flowers.
