Moles and Parties

Sam got his mole removed this morning and everything went fine. The worst part, of course, is the injection of the numbing medicine with those huge needles. At one point I was sitting there and thought, "I hope he doesn't sneeze during this cause that could be bad." Sure enough, a minute later, he sneezed! Dr. Alexander had just taken out the mole and it was actually in his tweezers in his hand. "Next time, you must warn us if you're going to sneeze," they told him.

Monday night we had a party for some old friends who were visiting K-State. Olivier is French, who married Karoline, who is Danish. They lived here when we first moved to Manhattan, and we spent a lot of time at parties at their house. He always loved Pink Panther movies. He was also the first person to convince me to start buying cd's and not casette tapes. He was instrumental in getting us to Denmark. I had not seen them for 12 years, when she was pregant at the time. So we got to meet their 11 year old daughter, who speaks French, Danish, and English. There were between 25-30 people at the party.

Lamb kabobs, among other things

Funny story about the fireworks...So for the last 2 weeks we've saved left over fireworks for this specific night. Autumn informed us that her friend, Megan, told her that there was a new ordinance passed that there was to be no fireworks set off in Manhattan after July 5. We poo-pooed that idea, thinking it couldn't be. So we started shooting off all kinds of stuff. One of John's students mentioned the ordinance when we started doing it. So Autumn was right. Well, then we starte hearing fire trucks. They get closer and closer and we're thinking, "Oh no, get the smoke out of here!" We had just set off some big ones up in the air. They actually pulled into the high school across the street (a few yards from where we were shooting them off in our backyard). We quickly put them away, and we don't know if someone called because of us, or if there really was something at the high school. Anyway, it was the end of our fireworks fun.

We had torches lit in the back yard

Irene was like a monkey climibing on the outside of the play house then jumping off from the top, then climbing up over the side of it.

You know in that last picture Autumn is crouched down to the ground. If I did that I would not be able to get back up at all. Has she seen the Kit movie yet?

Yes, we saw it on opening night. LOVED IT! Abigail Breslin can cry so well, and everytime she cried, we started crying.

Need more pictures of Sam.

Lorie -i'm just happy you told your kids that there was a July 4th and they could have fireworks. One of your sisters wouldn't tell their children when it was July 4th so she didnt have to take them to the fireworks.

that backyard looks fabulous --wow --when you getting a pool?
