Beauty, trees, marble

We are finally THROUGH with the paper route. And just in time too. Sunday morning the papers were over two hours late. I can't imagine how we would have got to church in time if we were the ones delivering. They've come late so much the last few weeks, it been really difficult to schedule around them. We were all so sick of it.

Tuesday we went to the High School performance of Beauty and the Beast. This was the first time John Mark has accompanied us to one. It was really really good! The H.S. musicals here are always fantastic, but this one was exceptional. Even Hard to Impress John Mark couldn't believe how good it was. Their sets were very realistic, the acting was perfect, and the singing was phenomenal. The only thing that made us remember this was a high school performance was the off-key orchestra! Ha!

Friday evening Sam left for a lock-in with the teens. It was down in Wichita (2.5 hours away). We were a little worried about him going since it was so far away, and they'd have a very tiring drive for the return trip Sat. morning. But we decided to let him go anyway. After he returned at 8 AM we found that the lock-in was one of those where you drive from one place to another. So they drove to do some miniature golfing, another place to ice skate, etc... We're glad we didn't know about this beforehand because I think that would have made us more nervous! He came home and was up the entire day until about 7:30 PM.

Also, Saturday morning Autumn and 5 other quizzers and several adults traveled to Derby (3 hours away) for our zone children's quiz. Kansas is so spread out we can't just travel 1/2 hour away to quiz another church. We got up around 5:30 AM for this long trek. Our quizzers were so tired. I was watching them at one point and noticed all three in our BLUE level were yawning. Autumn got a silver. By no means her best quiz, actually probably her worst quiz. We found out 5 minutes before the quiz started that the "extra questions" that they sent out to all the coaches, never reached the email of our two coaches. So there were several questions they'd never heard before. In previous quiz books the extra questions were always in the back of the teacher's book. This year's new publication is without extra questions, and they email them to the coaches. Obviously, a very STUPID idea. Not sure what the reasoning is behind that one.

John Mark is currently in Atlanta, GA for a quick trip. He's giving a talk there.

We painted the inside of our entry way closet. John had Darren put up about 10,000 hooks! Here it is and you can see some of our new marble flooring. We're still working on trim around the doors...

This is only 1/2 of the hooks

Yes, it's crazy to have marble in a closet

going out a ways

Our entry way. Stupid cat got in so many pictures. I kept moving her and by the time I got the camera set up again. She was on the floor.

same?

up close and personal

very close of the brown marble

I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree
A tree that looks at God all day,And lifts her leafy arms to pray

Thy woods, this autumn day, that ache and sag
And all but cry with color!

I like the dark marble the best I think. But I'm not there to see the overall effect. I always like a person in a picture but seems the cat takes the place of a human and it works. Ha!Will those hooks be used? Mom

I think the hooks are a great idea.

The hooks ARE being used. Lots of ball caps and umbrellas on them.
We like the brown marble the best too. Actually, I think it would have looked fine to do it all in the brown marble. I think it costs a little more than the cream color.

Beautiful floor, beautiful trees. All our trees seem to be yellow this year. Jen
