While I was trying to make all these things, Sam and Autumn both had friends over. Then Darren (the kid who works for us) and his cousin came to install the wiring for our outside lights in the back. While they were going in and out, the doorbell rang. It was the garage door repairman. This guy looked more like the boogie man than anyone I'd ever seen. He was very nice, but looked like Elizabeth Smart's captor! He ended up having to order the part, which will take 2 weeks to get it in.
Saturday Sam worked the Bungee Run at the carnival. He was in charge of helping the kids get the belt on them before running out as far as they could--only to snap back.
Meanwhile, Autumn tried the football throw over and over so she could win a furry bracelet (the hot item for the day). Took her awhile, but she finally succeeded.

Autumn and I went to a baby shower Saturday afternoon. They had a game where 7 women had posted a baby picture, and you had to guess who they were. I put up the one of me in a baby blanket laying on the sidewalk. It's the one where it looks like the gypsies just dropped me off and left me as an infant. No one guessed who I was, so I really must have changed. Ha!
Sunday morning Sam and Stevan both got up with John Mark to do the paper route at 6:00 AM. After not sleeping much the night before, they were pretty worn out for Sunday. Sam fell asleep in the car on the way to Sunday evening service.
Sunday afternoon Autumn and I went to the Wolf House Open House. This is a 150 year old stone house in Manhattan. They had an exhibition of children's toys through the ages. One of the most interesting things was seeing what a feed sack looked like. I had assumed they were just off white. When Mom said she had clothing from feed sacks that's how I pictured them. But they showed us all these dresses that were made from those sacks, and I couldn't believe how colorful they were. Just like regular material. Also interesting was seeing a widow's vail. Autumn and I had read in Caddie Woodlawn's Family a story about Caddie buying her mother a widow's vail, thinking it was beautiful and not knowing what it really was. Of course, in the story her mother went into hysterics when she took it out of the box. Funny story. Anyway, it was neat to get to actually see one.
Last week we also had the plumber out as we had our yearly drain clog in the washer/dishwasher drain area. He advised us to put bleach down the drain once a week. He said several years back people would use bleach more often and it stopped the lint from building up in the drains. He said you loose as much lint in the washer as you do in the dryer, so think what that's doing to our sensitive pipes! So yesterday, I poured a cup of bleach down the pipe that goes from the washer down to the other pipes. Unfortunately, I forgot to put the pipe back in its place and later ran the wash machine. I soon heard this loud spraying sound. It took about 15 seconds for me to get in there and shut off the machine. By that time the water had drained all over the floor and was going into the kitchen area as well. What a mess! For the second time in a matter of days we had a wet mess on the floor. JM didn't want to move the washer and dryer to mop up under there, so we're hoping evaporation does it's thing, and we don't get end up with 2 rusty appliances.
I went to the Nusery today and asked about our dead roses. They informed me there was nothing that could be done about it this year. They would just look sad and next year should return to normal. Sad, sad, sad...

Was Autumn trying to throw through that big hoop? How could she miss?!
Well, considering it's about 20 feet (it looks closer in the photo) away and she's never thrown a football before, and she's not an athlete,it took her 8 times!
I couldn't keep up with your lives. I don't remember ever being that busy. I think us living in the country had something to do with that. I enjoy seeing the pictures. Autumn took a beautiful picture of herself. I did that to show you how short my hair was and it was awful. Close ups are not for old ladies.
If I am annon. I don't have to sign in but you know me. right?
Well, you write like my mother, so I guess that's who you are.
Mom, I got to thinking. With five kids, living on a farm, starting up a home mission church, working nights as a nurse, having a invalid mother living with you....you probably had tons of time on your hands.
