Autumn was involved with reciting a poem with her friend Caitlyn. She did very well. She also was in volved in 2 May Pole dances. They played Celtic kind of music as they danced around the May Pole. I wish so much I could post video for everyone to see how good this was. They highlighted each season, but the emphasis was on the last one...SPRING! At the end of the program, they sang All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Thursday night was the Science Fair. Both kids had an entry. The fair is a big thing at T.R. All 4th, 5th, 6th graders are required to submit an entry. The other grades are optional, but many of them do it. On Thursday evening, it's open to the public. They also simultaneously have 3 different science live shows going on--mostly K-State stuff. Lots of exciting things going on.
UPDATE ON REMODELING...
We may possibly be getting our wood floors while I'm in Ohio and JM is in NY at the end of the month. However, we have to pick out the lighting and get all that installed and working before the floors are installed. Don't know how much we can get accomplished. JM is gone part of next week also, so there are many decisions to make in a short amount of time.
We had a bathroom guy here today who told us how he'd gut the bathroom and make it all work out for us. He said it would probably take 1 month from the first gutting to the final product, and that's if we have all the parts ordered and in on time.
The group consisted of Autumn's 3rd grade (rt.) and a 4th/5th combo class (left)
Autumn and Caitlyn recite "Untitled poem of Autumn" (The morns are meeker than they were). Caitlyn's parents are the directors of the new K-State Biosecurity Department.
Dancing around the May Pole. The kids in the middle had cups that were upside down. They did a synchapated rhythm exchanging the cups during the song, while the others danced.
Autumn and her half-German friend Megan. Megan came to the States for the first time last fall. Her mother is German, and her father is a soldier.
Sam with his science fair project board. He took cotton, acrylic, polyester, wool, and flame retardant pajamas and tested which would ignite the fastest and which burned up the fastest. The flame retardant pj's did terrible!
Doing the experiment
Autumn, Megan, and the above mentioned Caitlyn did an experiement to see if putting salt in water would affect the magnitism. They did all this in class with no parental involvement--hooray!!!
I love this loveseat, and we're thinking of buying it.

Lorie, I would *love* to sit with you on that love seat.
We had May Day Dances at Washington School. It was done by the 6th grade girls. All of us underage girls just couldn't wait until we got in 6th grade. Mrs. Wagner was in charge of it. The pole was out in the playyard. I wonder why? Maybe it was an old tether ball pole? Did you pick out your wood for the floor?
Mrs. Wagner was in charge of a May Pole dance? I just can't imagine that!
We have a temp. date set for the wood floor installation, (May 29), which is while we're gone. We're still trying to figure out how we'll work that. The actual flooring is narrowed down to one or two shade, and we'll have to make the final decision soon.
who is annon on this?mom
I bet it is her boyfriend.
It is John Mark, and I don't know why he wouldn't put his name.
