As a friend of mine says, "Sam really has the scary teenager look down."

Swirly Swirl always wants to be where Autumn is (see doorway)
So school started on Wednesday. Sam has got up just fine, but is wiped out when he comes home in the afternoon. Autumn is adjusting to her new class okay.
I have been working on tearing their wallpaper down FOREVER. Actually, it's been about a month now. I've tried EVERYTHING...steamer, DIF, fabric softener. The best thing has been an orchard sprayer. However, I'm not thrilled about that because the liquid runs down the wall and into the baseboards, and I'm thinking there may be old now growing there? The problem is the product that is behind the wallpaper. The primer has not allowed a slippery surface. I guess that's what's called sizing. The sizing was put on shiny paneling. Well, I don't think I can explain it well without you actually seeing it. Just trust me, it hasn't been easy.

Sam basically picked his color out in a few minutes. Autumn went thru the color wheel and took notes on her "favorite colors of the rainbow", then narrowed it down to a few different hues, then saw something else she liked, then poured through Kid's Rooms books from Home Depot, and still does not know what color to go with. Now she's to the point where she doesn't even want me to say "paint". It reminds me of when Dad had Mom canning all those peaches and Mom got so sick of it, we weren't allowed to say "peaches", but could only say "the P word." Well, "paint" has become our "P" word.

JM starts school on Monday, so he has been busy with preparation for that. I am teaching a kids missionary lesson tomorrow on Armenia. I usually do a power point presentation for the Fast Facts and the story and try to have some kind of food representing the country. Since apricots were originally from there, we're having apricots and yogurt!
Now, on with the day!

What color did Sam chose? That's funny about Autumn taking notes! Have you tried to spray plain water? The reason I ask is that we had to take down the wallpaper at Trinity a few years ago and we bought all kinds of stuff to peal it off. The only thing that worked well was when we would saturate the wallpaper in water. It was still tedious but it finally came off.

Sam wants two of his walls blue and two green. They are both turquoise-like. I don't have the names in front of me here. He's wanting the metalic paint they have at Home Depot, but I'm going to double check the price on that before I say a final YES.
No, I've not tried straight water, but I will. A's room is 1/2 way done, so still more to go.
The worst wallpaper I took down was in the laundry room. It was two layers. The bottom layer was horrendous. I used hot water mixed with fabric softener, but it still took forever. Good luck! sandi
I had to promise Hannah I would never wallpaper again. Have you made that promise yet? Is black in style (Sam's clothing). Autumn looks loaded down. Wish Abi could have came and helped you out with the paper. Jen
I love the excited look that Sam has on his face.
who is going to paint Sam's room? If you tape,he should roll it on.he needs to get the experience there as I need some painting done next summer...
What allis Autumn carrying?....mom
She has a bunch of school supplies in her backpack. We still have to sand and clean the walls yet before we even get to the painting stage. I hope he can help. We shall see.
