We had a nice Thanksgiving spent with friends. Autumn was actually sick the evening before, and I wasn't sure we'd be able to go. But it only lasted a little bit then she was fine.
Here she is on Thursday morning having a "Thanksgiving feast" with her dolls in her room.
Thursday morning was spent baking. I made two loaves of homemade bread (one of them cinnamon), an apple pie, a pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes (half marshmallow topping, half crumb/nut topping, spiral hickory ham (the absolute best ham ever tasted), cranberry relish (made by JM and Sam). She also wanted me to make my kind of iced tea so I did the usual with a slight taste of peach. My friend Carina made turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, a green bean dish, and pecan pie. We had a wonderful feast. Afterwards JM showed a slide show of his travels, as Carina is always wanting to go somewhere, but is usually stuck in Kansas.
Some of our food...
The dressing...Sam was taking pictures of the food and I told him to not take pictures of the garbage. Turns out the "garbage" was the dressing she made! Ha! It also happened to have been one of the tastiest things on the menu.
We spent Friday at a funeral. One of the old men of the church, Clyde Peterson, 89, passed away last week. He fought in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. We were able to give the kids a little history lesson on the way to the funeral. Sam was interested, but I'm not sure Autumn took much in. Afterwards, I helped with the funeral dinner, so was at church for several hours.
What a difference a week makes. Last week we had this beautiful tree that I posted, and Saturday we woke up to...
Sunday was decorate the church. Here, a few of the kids are making crafts to hang in the hallway.
We have a very large tree in the sanctuary
After the decorating, some of the kids pose with the children's pastor in front of the tree.
John and I put together our special candlelight service. He had tons of candles everywhere. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
The best part is after the readings etc and nice songs, we then pass out jingle bells to the kids and do the fun stuff (Jingle Bells, Rudolph, Christmas in Kilarney, Jingle Bell Rock).

The food looks great and the snow looks wonderful! Where did you put all of those candles? Where they in the sanctuary? The pictures look like something in Taste of Home. No joke.
Who wrote the above?
The candels ARE in the sanctuary. We have two alters and had them shaped in a V . Both were full of candles. We also had them on crates behind the alters. The crates had cloths draped on them. We had them on the piano and a few other places as well.
I wrote the first comment.
