So we had Autumn's friend's parents over last Friday night. He plays
claw hammer banjo and is a visiting professor in Architecture. She is a
visiting professor in Ceramics. John Mark and he played for several
hours and sounded terrific together. Autumn and Chloe spent about 5
minutes playing a simple violin and piano duet. They weren't too
thrilled about the whole thing though. We had some great apple pie and
ice cream for dessert. The guy said it
was the most fun he'd had since moving to Kansas, so we KNOW they had a
great time. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures during that night.
Our new Children's Pastor is moving in this weekend. She is moving 5
houses down from us! I'm pretty excited about that. We are helping
them move in on Sat. evening. Autumn and I are going to make some bread
and bring it to them.
Our favorite neighbors, The Campbells, are moving on Nov 1. They sold their house to an middle age single lady. They're moving across town. These are the neighbors that we see when we look out our front door. They have a little boy named Jack. We hate to see them go. They're our age.
I went to the Mercury and gave Sam's official notice to resignation. We
found a replacement person, so all is set. Yesterday, I told him we
needed to type up his notice to deliver to his customers and he goes, "I
changed my mind, I'll continue until Christmas." WHAT???? I told him
he couldn't back out now. After months of complaining that we weren't
letting him quit, and now everything is in motion, and he decides he'll
keep at it? Well, it's too late! So he'll be quitting the first week
of November whether he likes it or not.
I have lots of pictures to share. The turkeys have been in the neighborhood since July. We see them all the the time. Here's one in our yard. Taken thru a window...
I got these flowers for my birthday almost 2 weeks ago and they're still looking good in the picture. My friend Gabi got them for me. She's the mom of Autumn's German friend that I've talked about before.
I went ahead and took some pictures of our living room even though it's not all the way finished. Some of these are almost the same shot, but I thought I'd post them anyway.
This wall is the portrait wall
We changed the chandelier for the landing. John Mark didn't like the one we'd picked out. He told me if I let him have his chandelier, I could choose the wall coloring. So we compromised. There are still 3 light bulbs missing in this one, but you get the idea. The door is going to be re-done and painted white. It just has primer on it now. Eventually, we'd like to have french doors here, but that's down the road a little ways.
The next few pictures I'm playing around with my new camera (the above pics were with the old).
No, we didn't get snow.
We took a hike with the kids on Saturday since the weather was perfect and they wanted only to stay inside and play video games. This trail is behind the zoo/high school/cemetery. Sam had just washed his hair so looks wet in all the photos. I also set it on folage, and everything has a green and pink cast to it. Not very good pictures except the close ups.
We had Sam take this picture. He thought it was gross.
Coloring is quite awful!

I got this picture from our paper. It's Anderson Hall, one of the oldest buildings on campus. Doesn't it look spooky? Just in time for Halloween.
Here's a happier Halloween picture...

Those kids looked thrilled to be hiking with you. They are getting so tall. Your house looks very beautiful. What did you do with all your stuff?
What stuff? Furniture?
