VBS pictures--Tumbleweed Gulch

Last week we had VBS. Our theme was "Tumbleweed Gulch", which was kind of a wild western theme. I was in charge of the object lesson every night. As you'll see in some of the pictures, alot of time and energy went into making the sanctuary look authentic western.

We were in a parade a few weeks before VBS started. Notice the jail on the wagon. For several weeks, the kids at church would arrest different members of the congregation and put them in jail. Someone had to bail them out with $5. You could also pay $5 to have someone arrested, then someone would still have to come up with another $5 to get them out. We raised over $350 that way for VBS.

Some of the kids in jail. It was really funny putting the old ladies of the church in there. I don't have any pics of that though.

This was the "stable" that JM stores up in the rafters in our garage. It was used for the Bible Memory work. At Christmas it's part of our manger scene in the sanctuary.

Snacks each night had to do with our lessons. These are sailboats, if you can't tell.

Our director did a great job on this sign.

Of course we did the ole' boys against the girls competition for offering. Each dollar raised got a "gold nugget" in the barrel. They raised over $600 for Project Tumble Read. It provides books and Christian literature to kids in 3rd world countries.

When all was done, I had them move a bunch of it into the church hallway and put it on the walls there. It will brighten things up for a few months there.
