MN Vacation Photos
The above link is to the rest of the MN vacation photos. I think I sent out the link via email, so probably everyone has seen them all.
Yesterday the kids and I were invited by some military friends to see the U.S. Army's Soldier Show at McCain Auditorium. We went several years ago, and it was so-so. This time though it was really good. Lots of different kinds of music, many talented dancers and singers, and some special effects. While I couldn't stand the hip hop stuff, they mixed in religious, patriotic, country, classic rock etc.. The endings are always very moving including many songs about soldiers' sacrifices. Then when it's all done we sing the Army Song. I have GOT to learn the words to that. I've been at so many occasions where the crowd has to sing that song. I only know "First to fight for the right and to build the nation’s might, and the Army goes rolling along." I felt like joining the Army afterwards, which is part of the point, I guess!
We have had showers every day this week. Lots of rain this summer. It's nice not to see everything fried at this time of the year like we usually do.
Sam is getting tired of the paper route. Therefore, I'm coaxing him most days by trying to do 1/3 or 1/2 of it. The bad thing is that it's right at supper time, and I'm finding it hard to deliver papers and get food cooked.
I'm reading On the Banks of Plum Creek to Autumn. Of course, I made her sit down with me today and eat plums while we read. She wasn't too thrilled about that. I couldn't believe she didn't like them as they were both sweet and juicy (I peeled hers too!). I can't figure out her taste buds. I ate two of them and she coughed through about 2 bites of her one plum.
She worked on her MN vacation scrapbook all day yesterday. She pretty much completed the entire thing in one day. I feel like turning her lose to complete all of my unfinished scrapbooks.
VBS starts Monday. Tomorrow I'm to go over and help w/ props all day. Then M-F I'm in charge of the object lesson. The worse part of this is trying to find all the objects for it. Hopefully, it'll all come together in the end though.
There is talk about us getting a part-time children's pastor. I would be absolutely thrilled about this if it happened. I have been wanting to work on our pitiful church website for so long and need JM to teach me. However, doing kids stuff all the time doesn't leave me much time to do that. But I will believe it when I see it.
